The 2010 Summer season is chock full of sequels, franchises, remakes, and promises to be a good amount of fun. Although there are many many many movies I want to see, I have narrowed it down to my personal top ten most anticipated movies of Summer 2010, which you can check out (in chronological order) AFTER THE JUMP.
1. Iron Man 2 (May 7th)
Verdict: The first movie was intensely fun and while early reviews of the second one haven't been the best, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt due to the cast and the excellent director. Plus, I'm excited to see where Nick Fury and The Avengers Initiative fit in.
2. Robin Hood (May 14th)
Verdict: Russell Crowe AND Ridley Scott? I'm in. I just hope that if they are going to really mimic the Gladiator formula, they recreate the opening battle from that film because it was aweeeeeeeeesome.
3. Splice (June 4th)
Verdict: Crazy and original, Splice may be the one legitimately good movie in the Summer 2010 movie season. It may actually be scary too and movies of that ilk are sorely missed in these current times. And seriously, check the hell out of that weird baby picture. THAT IS SWEET.
4. The A-Team (June 11th)
Verdict: Let's say this again: a TANK that is PARACHUTING from the sky is SHOOTING at a plane. Come on. Seriously. Did I really need to elaborate?
5. Toy Story 3 (June 18th)
Verdict: I am a kid who grew up in the 1990's. They had my money the second they announced this.
6. Predators (July 9th)
Verdict: I'm intrigued to see how this turns out. I just hope Brody doesn't die, I don't want to sob in the theater (okay that was a joke...*sniff*).
7. Inception (July 16th)
Verdict: Looks trippy as balls, but Christopher Nolan's track record is spotless and the trailer is still mesmerizing. I'll just have to remind myself to close my eyes whenever Ellen Page appears on screen so I don't walk out as a reflex.
8. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (August 13th)
...
...
THAT'S why I'm excited. I'm a fan of the comic series its based off of and love everything Edgar Wright does, so this is a perfect mash-up for me. It looks like a comic book come to life, and all the nerds in the world are going to lap this up like it's the milk from Carrie Fisher's lactating breast (young Carrie Fisher, not Cryptkeeper Carrie Fisher).
Verdict: Seriously, watch that trailer. Also, do you have anything bad you can say about Edgar Wright? EXACTLY.
9. The Expendables (August 13th)
Verdict: It's got all the trappings of a fun 80's throwback, but the possibility of being hampered down by trying to be dramatic may ruin this. Hopefully not though; I can already feel my chest hairs finally grow in after watching this.
10. Piranha 3D (August 27th)
Verdict: Avatar and How to Train Your Dragon paved the way for the 3D to be taken seriously...and Piranha 3D is ready to destroy it all. Excellent.
In Conclusion...
