June rolls on as Hollywood brings to us two films; one is the third in a highly regarded series of films that not only put Pixar on the map, but ushered in a new era of children's films and animation. The other is, sadly, Jonah Hex. Wanna know more? Check it out AFTER THE BREAK.
Toy Story 3
When the first Toy Story came out, I was 8 years old and I absolutely fell in love with it. Ditto for the second one a few years later even though I was a bit older and probably should have hated it just because. Pixar finishes out the trilogy with Toy Story 3 this weekend, and I couldn't be more excited. The first two films still hold up to this day and it's great not only for kids, but for adults as well and the third one looks to be more of the same (even plot-wise, but they all have the same plot). The cast is back (save for the late Jim Varney) and Pixar can do no wrong. Early reviews also indicate that this will be just as good as the first two films, so this is probably going to be the sure bet this weekend. Still, the third in a series is always the worst, and I really don't think a third was necessary, but I've been surprised before and will be again I'm sure.

Jonah Hex
As much as I want Jonah Hex to be good...there's not a lot going for it. It's suffered through re-shoots and new directors, and the trailer made it look like a really bad version of Wild Wild West. I admit that as a big fan of the comic series (the newer Jimmy Palmiotti one), I'm already skeptical but all that I've seen has only worried me more. I hold out a little hope though; John Malkovich is fun to watch, and the script is by Neveldine/Taylor (then again, it's not their writing I love from them...), so hopefully that leads into some excellent action scenes. Unfortunately all this good is overshadowed by a leading man who looks like he'd rather be anywhere else (Brolin) and Megan Fox and her horrible southern accent.
